Senior Spirit Week

Our senior’s rock!

Even during these uncertain times we forge on.

Last week we continued the tradition of senior spirit week virtually!

Star wars day, decades day, throwback day, Tik Tok day, dress like a celebrity, were some of the events that were hosted. Our students and staff got into the spirit. Thank you to all who participated.

NYU College of Dentistry

On January 14, 2020, New York University College of Dentistry students hosted John Dewey High School students enrolled in the Career Exploration and Work Based Skills class. A team of six current graduate level students led by peer tutors Carmen A Espinal and Muller Karger under the leadership of Dr. Eugenia Mejia discussed personal reasons for choosing this particular career path. Carmen can be quoted as saying “providing immediate relief to people with dental related pain can bring immediate gratification”. Additionally, the students and Dr. Mejia discussed the importance of communication and problem solving skills both in college and professional dental settings. This visit concluded with a tour of several laboratories located in the David B. Kriser dental center.

John Dewey H.S. – Senior Class

Our school will be running a fundraiser to offset the cost of graduation dues/senior events.  This year’s amount will be $170.

This fundraiser involves the senior students selling World’s Finest Chocolate. The cost of each case is $60.00 and comes packed with 60 assorted bars/items ($1.00 per item).  For each case you sell, we will deduct $30.00 from the cost of your senior dues/trip. Profit will first go towards senior dues and then additional profits will be deducted from senior trip, senior prom, etc. Please be aware WHOLE CASES ONLY.  Remember for safety purposes, please do not sell door to door.

In order for this program to be successful, a full case must be requested by sending in this request form.  Additional cases are available upon receipt of payment of the previous one.

This is an opportunity for you to save money.  It is not mandatory.  If you prefer to just pay the dues and not sell the candy bars that is completely up to you.  If you are interested in participating in selling the candy bars, please return this document indicating that you will be responsible for a case of chocolate bars.  Please remember that additional cases will not be handed out until payment of the previous case taken is received.

Senior Breakfast 2019

Who doesn’t love a good breakfast? From French toast, eggs, 2 kinds of omelets, bacon, and every other treat you could imagine. We know how hard our students worked this year, so we served them. Breakfast, senior t-shirts and of course their yearbooks. Our students spent this morning with their friends and school staff. Music played as they got their yearbooks signed, ate, and made yet another memory! Senior class 2019 you rock!
