Brooklyn Navy Yard Summer 2026 Internship Program Application
BNYDC’s Summer Internship Program connects college-attending students and college-bound high school seniors to a wide range of paid internship opportunities with businesses within the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Over the course of an 8-week session, students will be connected to Yard-based businesses and departments according to their future career interests, skill sets, and educational background.
 
Summer 2026 Internship Program Details: 
• Start and End Date:
June 15th until August 7th
• Accepted interns commit to a 40-hour work week with a one-hour unpaid lunch break each day, and are compensated at $17/hr. This totals to 35 paid hours each week. 
• Interns will participate in various mandatory professional development activities throughout the program.
 
Additional Details:
• Interns are selected based on their demonstration of strong communication skills, work ethic, and track record of commitment and achievement. 
• Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. The deadline to apply is Friday, February 27th, 2026
• Limited internships are available, so applications should be sent in as soon as possible. Applications accepted earlier in the process will have greater likelihood of matching to an internship role in their desired field(s).  
    
Eligibility: 
• A Brooklyn resident or attend a Brooklyn-based school   
• A first-time or once returning participant in the internship program   
• A current college attending student or a student enrolled in the following summer or fall semester 
 
Most common roles we will have positions available for are focused on business admin./management, computer science/IT, communications, culinary/hospitality, engineering, fashion, film, graphic design, marketing, social media management, and more.

The NY Exploring Program helps students learn about different jobs. You can do free shadowing with big companies in New York City. These fun activities help you learn about careers in business, health, law, and more.
 
The sessions are after school. You will meet people who do these jobs and see what they do.

Civics and Activism Remote Internship

 

 

Unpaid remote internship or volunteer opportunity, 5-30 (flexible) hours per week and flexible start and end dates.

Join our team of mission-driven young people from all around the United States to help amplify youth civic engagement and participate in activism on many issues that you care about like climate change, criminal justice, reproductive rights, ending gun violence, and combating voter suppression in the United States.

Free ESF Engineering Summer Program

 

Applications are now open for Explore Engineering @ ESF, a free, week-long residential summer program for rising juniors and seniors. Hosted at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), the program runs August 2–7, 2026 and is designed for students interested in STEM, problem-solving, and environmental challenges.

We encourage you to share this opportunity with students who would benefit from:

 

  • Exposure to multiple engineering disciplines, including environmental, bioprocess, sustainability, renewable materials, and more.
  • College-level, hands-on learning guided by ESF faculty and engineering professionals.
  • A residential college-life experience that builds confidence, independence, and readiness for post-secondary pathways.
  • Opportunities to explore future careers in engineering and sustainability-related fields.

 

Importantly, there is no cost for students to participate, reducing barriers for families and expanding access to high-quality STEM enrichment.

Summer 2026 STEM Institute Open Enrollment

 

We are excited to share a wonderful opportunity for students interested in STEM this summer. The STEM Institute at The City College of New York (CCNY) will be offering a FREE Summer 2026 program for students in grades 6–12. This program provides engaging, hands-on academic experiences on a college campus.


Program Details:


Dates:             July 6, 2026 – August 7, 2026
Location:       City College of New York, 259 Convent Avenue, New York, NY 10031
Schedule:       Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Lunch:            Provided daily


All program offerings are completely free, including classroom materials, & daily Lunch. 

Course Selection:

 

Students in grades 6–8 should select courses from the Middle School section.

    • Architecture / Game Development / Building an Electric Skateboard

Students in grades 9–12 should select courses from the High School section.

    • Financial Management / Physics / App Development / Ethics & Philosophy / Robotics / Calculus I / Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (CN eligible) *

 

Students should select their course choices in order of preference when completing the application. While students will only be enrolled in one course for the summer, they are encouraged to list a second and third choice in case their first choice becomes full. Please make sure students only select courses they would be happy taking, as placement may be made in any of the courses listed based on availability.

 

    • All STEM Institute Summer courses offer high school honors elective credits for eligible students in grades 8–11.

 

SYEP Opportunity

Students who are eligible for the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) may be able to select the STEM Institute as their work site, allowing them to participate in the program while earning pay during the summer. If your student has been awarded SYEP funds, we encourage them to apply so they can enjoy a summer that is both educational and a paid opportunity.

Important:  Please make sure both the student and parent/guardian email addresses are entered correctly. Program updates will be sent to these emails. Families should use a personal email address (such as Gmail or Yahoo) rather than a school email (such as nycstudents.net).

Deadline:
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so the sooner students apply, the greater their chances of being placed in one of their top course choices. Families are encouraged to apply as early as possible, with a final application deadline of May 31st,2026
